MCM Expo London is a bi-annual event that takes place at the ExCel Centre. Usually the events occur on the last weekend of May and October and have been running since 2001. The events focus heavily on anime, manga, gaming, sci-fi and entertainment. Due to this it attracts a lot of Cosplayers. As MCM Expo has progressed the number of attendees in Cosplay has increased and they now make up the majority of the crowd, with many aspects of the weekend revolving around this. 

It is common for people to meet with others who are dressed from the same series and stage photoshoots, record videos or perform together on stage. MCM Fringe Festival was created to help cosplayers organise things together and they can use the website before the weekend of MCM Expo to promote their planned meet-ups.
