Marble Collection is a show that features fashion, music, dance and acting showcasing Japanese pop culture.
"What's marble collection?
Japan is composed of various regions. Shibuya, Harajuku, Akihabara each have their own colour. Each town is represented by what the individual likes and wants to express. Otagei, Harajuku fashion, Shibuya gal culture is the result of that phenomenon. It is difficult to present each specific culture so this event is to be a compilation of the many cultures. A broad focus of 2012 Japan."
The panel began with a presentation of the Marble Collection show that was held in Singapore. The guests for this panel included Junya Yamada, Executive Creative Director of the Marble Collection, Masayuki Fukuyama, General Producer, Pixie Late, UK model, Scarlett Young, UK kawaii star, and Kairin, UK musician and model.
"There are various colours in Shibuya,
Harajuku and Akihabara. If each colour is mixed like a marble cake
pattern, the “KAWAII” culture which Japan can be proud of in the
world can be seen. It is “MARBLEcollection” to express such
various “KAWAII” fashion cultures of colouring to one. “KAWAII”
of various colours is sent to the world from Japan."
'Kawaii' is a word that featured often in the video and people, including the panelists at Hyper Japan, were asked "What is kawaii for you?"
"The word Kawaii is not just a Japanese
word now, its a world language. Everybody knows what Kawaii means and
for me Kawaii doesn't have a fixed meaning."
